President's news

Greetings,

As we begin the downhill slide into Summer Lite the rest of the country is moving into fall.  Just a reminder to stay hydrated and keep an eye on children and pets as we continue with high temperatures.  Just a few items for this newsletter.

    1. Chapter board elections will be held in November.  If you are interested in any of the elected positions contact any of the current board members, and we will be happy to discuss the responsibilities and time investment at acpcentralarizonachapter@gmail.com.
    2. ACP is participating in the HundredX fund raiser October 7th through November 5th, 2024.

It’s an easy and completely safe way (you will NEVER get spammed) to raise money for the chapter.  The money the chapter receives is spent at the discretion of the chapter and not taxed in any way.  The chapter who raises the most for 2024 will receive a free National Membership to raffle or gift at their discretion.

Last year ACP chapters raised a total 0f $5,212.  Friendly competition between the Chapters in 2023 resulted in Greater Tampa Bay raising $1,388; Liberty Valley $788; and Colorado $688.

Fund raising is limited to nine chapters however, no one will be turned away.  National only members can also participate.

The goal for ACP fundraising this year is $10,000 with the potential to make even more.  More details will be coming as we get closer to the launch date.

4.  The virtual August Chapter Meeting was very well attended.  Richard Long, Senior Advisory Consultant from MHA Consulting spoke about what do BC Professionals need to know and more importantly do about Cyber Preparedness and Stephanie Miller, Emergency Preparedness Equity Educator for the Arizona Statewide Independent Living Council spoke about Centers for Independent Living and their role in emergency management.  Thanks to both terrific speakers for sharing information about these important topics.

5.  The Member Appreciation Meeting will be held on October 3, 2024, from 11:00 am — 1:00 pm at Top Golf, 9500 E. Talking Stick Way, Scottsdale, (Off of Loop 101 and Indian Bend Road).  The meeting includes food and non-alcoholic beverages, free use of the Golf Bay from 11:00 – 1:00, assorted prizes and a hassle-free sign in.  No membership card needed!  A link will be sent prior to the meeting.  RSVP by September 13, 2024 to acpcentralarizonachapter@gmail.com
